This is a basic breakout board for the FTDI FT232RL (3.3VIO) USB to serial IC.
The pinout of this board matches the FTDI cable to work with official Arduino and cloned 5V Arduino boards. It can also be used for general serial applications.
The major difference with this board is that it brings out the DTR pin as opposed to the RTS pin of the FTDI cable. The DTR pin allows an Arduino target to autoreset when a new Sketch is downloaded. This is a really nice feature to have and allows a sketch to be downloaded without having to hit the reset button. This board will auto reset any Arduino board that has the reset pin brought out to a 6pin connector.
The pins labeled BLK and GRN correspond to the colored wires on the FTDI cable. The black wire on the FTDI cable is GND green is CTS. Use these BLK and GRN pins to align the FTDI basic board with your Arduino target.
This board has TX and RX LEDs that make it a bit better to use over the FTDI cable. You can actually see serial traffic on the LEDs to verify if the board is working.
This board was designed to decrease the cost of Arduino development and increase ease of use (the autoreset feature rocks!). Our Arduino Pro boards and LilyPads use this type of connector.
One of the nice features of this board is a jumper on the back of the board that allows the board to be configured to either 3.3VIO or 5VIO (both power output and IO level). This board ships default to 3.3VIO but you can cut the default trace and add a solder jumper if you need to switch to 5VIO.

Back-Orders

Due to the nature of our business, only a limited supply may be available for some items. As such, we reserve the right to cancel back orders. Accepted back-orders are subject to additional shipping charges. Accepted back-orders will only be charged on the day they are shipped.

Online Shopping Returns/RMA

NOTE: Any shipments received without a RMA# will be refused. Items may be returned for credit or refund at our discretion within 7 working days of delivery. All returns must have Return Merchandise Authorization number (RMA#). RMA# requests are made by calling 416-494-8999 Monday to Friday, 9 A.M. - 5 P.M. EST. Please have your invoice ready when you call. Non-defective returns are subject to a 30% restocking fee. Carefully pack your return and clearly note the RMA# on the outside of the box. Some items (such as kits, cut or measured product and special orders) are non-returnable. No freight collect or COD returns accepted. Parcels damaged in transit are the responsibility of the shipper. Shipping charges on returned goods are non-refundable. No returns after 30 days.

Online to Store Returns/Exchanges

All Returned Goods must be complete and in original package. Returns must be made within 7 working days (with original Invoice). Restocking charges of 30% shall be levied for no fault of Sayal. Refunds shall be issued via the same method of purchase with Original Card.
